- This was one of several episodes intended as pilots for spin-off series that were never made.
- The title is a parody of the Mother Goose nursery rhyme of "Jack and Jill". "Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after."
- Third of the 14 "book end" episodes that only feature Jessica narrating them; the others were Murder in a Minor Key, and The Grand Old Lady.
- Max Baer Jr, who played Johnny Wheeler, is the son of famed boxer Max Baer and is best known as Jethro Bodine from the Beverly Hillbillies, a role he's since tried to distance himself from.
