Holly Chase is a friend of Jessica Fletcher as well as a student in her creative writing class. She worked at Rojam Records, and used her contacts to help Jessica land a session to record her first novel, The Corpse Danced at Midnight for the blind. Holly was raised by a foster mother named Annie who is blind, and Holly tells Jessica that she read four of her books to Annie before she left home. During a rehearsal for a music video shoot, Holly got a call on her walkie-talkie, asking for music mogul Freddie Major to go to the VIP lounge. During the shoot, Major is shot and killed, and when Jessica asks her about the call she got, Holly admits she couldn't tell if the caller was male or female due to all the noise.
