Bruce Hastings was a Deputy Federal Prosecutor working on the case against pathological liar Dana, who was convicted for the murder of notorious publisher Ethan Stevens. It was later discovered by Jessica Fletcher that Bruce was Ethan's killer in the episode "Dead to Rights" (S09E18).
