When Jessica visits a peaceful lakeside inn to do research for her next book, she witnesses a violent scene out on the lake, seemingly of a husband pushing his neglected wife out of the boat into the water. Everyone staying at the inn believes Jessica has witnessed the husband murdering his wife, but due to several oddities, Jessica isn't so sure.
Victim: Carolyn Hester Crane
Killer: Burton Hollis
Cause of death: Forcibly drowned, after being hit on the head with binoculars.
Motive: To frame Howard Crane for murder, due to him kicking his father out of their family company, thereby inheriting it himself.
Jessica gets out of the back of the police car on her own. You can't open the back door of a police car from the inside.
The next goof is that when Jessica saw the supposed drowning, it was shown that Howard Crane was searching for his wife with one hand & the other on the edge of the boat. But, Carolyn Crane, never fought back with her husband to show she was being drowned by him, was she ?
